Poisy & Tignes, France, August 2025. At the end of July, the team at E‑ROE completed a meaningful test of their E-ROE TWO: the summit of the Col de l’Iseran, Europe’s highest mountain pass at 2,764 meters. The vehicle, equipped with CIXI’s PERS chainless pedaling system, covered 56 km round trip with 1,340 meters of elevation gain, on a single charge of a 1,440 Wh battery.

Energy recovery on the descent played a key role in completing the trip without a recharge. All systems ran smoothly throughout, including our PERS technology in its heavy cargo configuration.

Jean‑Philippe Banquet, CEO of E‑ROE, shared his feedback with us afterward:

Your PERS has enabled us to climb the highest mountain pass in Europe, at 2,764 m: the Iseran Pass! Apart from a few adjustments and comments on the user experience, which we will discuss at our next meeting, everything worked perfectly! 56 km round trip with 1,340 m of elevation gain, all on a single 1,440 Wh battery thanks to energy recovery on descents and an average speed of 25 km/h!
Powered by the PERS Chainless Pedaling System. Heavy Cargo Kit

For this vehicle, E‑ROE used our latest PERS system with the Heavy Cargo Kit configuration, a very powerful drivetrain, ideal for 3-4 wheeler cargo bikes, designed for professional heavy-duty, delivery services & big payloads.

Key components:

  • PERS: 185 Nm max resistive torque, >80% efficiency, continuous output 360 W, peak output 613 W.
  • AES Superpack battery: 1,440 Wh capacity, regenerative braking enabled.
  • Dual Heinzmann: RN111 hub motors and Embedded Innovation controllers.
  • Heavy-duty cockpit: Integrated pedal mode selector and display.
  • Wiring harnesses: Developed by CIXI, adapted for cargo vehicles.

This setup supports 0.5 m/s² acceleration from a standstill on a 15% gradient with a total vehicle mass of 384 kg.
About E‑ROE

Founded in 2024, E‑ROE is an industrial startup based in France rethinking everyday short-range mobility. Their mission: make the transport of people and goods easier and safer for daily trips between 0 and 15 km, precisely where traditional bikes underperform and cars are oversized.

The E‑ROE TWO Cargo is a compact, fully enclosed, four-wheeled electric vehicle designed for daily urban and peri-urban logistics. Similar in size to a traditional cargo bike, it offers the handling of a light vehicle with added protection from weather and traffic. Its modular cargo area can carry tools, goods, or a custom-fitted box, making it well-suited for last-mile delivery and local utility tasks.

Available in both Passenger and Cargo versions, E‑ROE’s platform is built for real-world use: compact, practical, and road-ready. The vehicles are assembled in France with local partners, with every detail focused on simplicity, durability, and ease of maintenance.
Behind the Collaboration

Our partnership with E‑ROE started more than a year ago. They first discovered CIXI at a fair and reached out soon after. Since then, we’ve been working closely. E‑ROE is based in La Tour-du-Pin in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in Southeastern France, about 80 km from our headquarters in Poisy. They’ve visited our factory a few times to test prototypes and discuss technical topics. For the integration of the PERS system into their vehicle, they came directly to our site to collect the Heavy Cargo Kit. From there, they handled the installation independently, without on-site assistance. We stayed in touch by phone throughout the process to support with all the technical questions or adjustments along the way.

Why It Matters

Testing doesn’t get more straightforward than this: load the bike, take it to altitude, and see how it performs. For us at CIXI, these are the moments that show whether a technology holds up in the field. The PERS system delivered exactly what was needed, and gave us new data and user feedback to keep improving. We’re proud to support E‑ROE in their development and validation.
